Manolis Lidakis on stage with Nadia Boule

Music lovers have long been anticipated the great singer Manolis Lidakis on stage for a long time, and the expectation has recently become real. The singer is on stage with Nadia Boule from December 9 on, every Friday and Saturday night at Stavrou tou Notou in Neos Kosmos,Athens. He will be singing many wonderful songs from his own discography and from Hadjidakis, Loizos, and Xarchakos with whose contribution Lidakis has been preparing his latest album.

new concerts, good news!

Hello to all listeners of Manolis Lidakis,

Tonight Manolis Lidakis will be giving a concert at the Theatre of Athens Municipality at 21.00. On January 29, he will be at Thessaloniki for a concert along with Nantia Mpoule. New album is on the way with the songs of Christos Nikolopoulos, according to the recent news. Details will soon be here.

There is an official explanation about the series of live performances of Manolis Lidakis,the great contemporary singer of Greece and Crete. Starting from December the 4th, and including various songs from his long musical career and from many valuable composers of Greek music such as Manos Hatzidakis, Pantelis Thalassinos, Orfeas Peridis and so on; he will be singing beautifully to our hearts and souls again.

Views from Lidakis’ Concert on September 2nd - Marousi, Athina

An exciting wait for the concert ended and I finally had the chance to listen Manolis Lidakis live. To name it, it was one of the most unbelievable performances of him, as he sang many songs from his new album “Mi mou gkremizeis t’oneiro” and many other from his previous albums. The concert started with the glorious song ‘Halkida’, and even though I didn’t have a good command of Greek language, I was able to sing along with him and the good crowd. There was also Anna Linardou singing a few songs along him. Probably the most exciting part of the concert was the last one, because of the reason both he had marvellous performances in his old songs and he sang songs from the valuable Cretan musician & singer Nikos Xilouris, which was a good surprise to me because both I was not expecting “Ta Xronia Kai Ta Logia Ta Xamena”, and it was awesome to hear the song from his voice. Maybe some day he would make an album as a tribute to Xilouris, which I suppose to be very appreciated. All in all, it was definitely worth to come and see him on stage, maybe one day it would be also possible for us to hear his breathtaking voice on a stage in Istanbul. Now I would like to send my deepest gratitude to Manolis Lidakis himself, for both having the ability to vitalize every feeling on earth within his voice, and turning a night into an unforgettable piece within the life of a little lost wind.

As soon as I have found anything new on the Net, I'm trying to add onto the blog. A few photographs first, from the Athens Arena International Music Festival of 2008, in which Manolis Lidakis performed the song/aria 'Caruso' with Mario Frangoulis, Lucio Dalla, Georgia Fumanti and Giorgos Perris.

One of the famous newspapers of Greece, Ta Nea had an interview with Manolis Lidakis, on February 9th, 2009, related to his new album "Mi mou gkremizeis t'oneiro". Manolis Lidakis in Stin Igeia Mas on 18.10.2008 and in Exei Gousto in 10.11.2008

It has been a long time, I admit. There is a full time record of the show "Stin Ygeia Mas/Στην υγειά μας" with Spiros Papadopoulos playing on ERT channels (NET or ERT World) on Saturday night, one of whose episodes Manolis Lidakis was one of the guests along with Dimitris Mitropanos, Babis Stokas and many other respected singers; to introduce this trio's weekly programme in Kentro Athinon.

What is more, after two weeks, the team had been the guests of Bilio Tsukala in "Exei Gousto/Εχει Γούστο" in November 10, 2008. That was a series of different and tasty performances. After discoverig that those records are available thanks to Internet, I thought it would be good to see.

The fact is, even though many of those admiring Lidakis' music might have seen pieces from the TV show on YouTube, these videos have the show in their full length. The performances were really elegant and the talks in between are fun to watch. Interesting to watch...
(By the way, I suppose that it would be amazing to see Lidakis on Stin Ygeia Mas or in Exei Gousto with his new album. Just a wish...)

a live performance and some nostalgy...

With the start of the new year, I'm trying to add new things to the content of the blog. After the hard times of my final projects, during which I cannot help but listen to all the beautiful songs of Lidakis, I'll be finishing the detailed discography information and later will pass to the albums for which he cooperated with many valuable artists.
Now, I would like to share a wonderful video, which I discovered in the first minutes of 2009!! It's a live performance video of the song "Paraponiariko/Παραπονιάρικο", composed by Hatzihristos and Lelakis, and sung by our beloved artist Manolis Lidakis.

s'eho de s'eho (Σ' έχω δε σ' έχω) live/ 03.09.2008

This video is from a music festival held in Thessalonica three months ago. The song is "S'eho de s'eho/Σ' έχω δε σ' έχω), from the album Yliko Oneiron released in 2001.



The only thing that I can think of after seeing the video a number of times is how he commands all the emotions and the excitement in the song (and also in himself) in such a spontaneous and enthusiastic way, combining this with the glory in his voice.

The only wish arising in my heart is that those spotlights of the stage never cease to enlighten the bright way of the tales he brings to life.

Latest live performance of Manolis Lidakis - Nov. 10, 2008

Here are the two performance videos of Manolis Lidakis, broadcast on NET TV of Greece on November 10th, 2008. This time, the instrumentals and Lidakis's unique vocal is excellently impressive. To my surprise, my favourite song of all his albums, "Νιώσε με" (Niose me-Feel me) is on the video. Even because of his representing what he feels when singing, in every single up-and-down of the song, the song means much more than what it originally tells, goes further more inside the heart, this is much more emotional than before:




The other song in the second live video is "Ηπια τα χείλη σου και χάνομαι" (Ipia ta heili sou kai hanomei-Your lips soft and loose), which is an Akis Panou song.




Both songs are from the album "ΟΣΑ ΣΟΥ ΧΩ ΠΕΙ" (OSA SOU HO PEI) which was released in 2004.

halkida, live on tv

Here is a live performance of Manolis Lidakis, singing "Halkida" in the Greek television programme "Στην υγειά μας" (stin geia mas - cheers us!), on October 18, 2008. Seeing this on Youtube was a great coincidence for me. In this program, he also sang with two very prominent artists of Greece, Dimitris Mitropanos and Babis Stokas.



Hearing him live from miles away is a bit weird, I just cannot name this now :/ However the song explains everything, with her quick turns, eminent pace and abrupt explanation of what is felt directly within one's heart. that's all...
